Toward an Automatically Generated Theory of Coordination - Empirical Explorations

We define the role and mechanisms of coordination in Intelligent Agent Societies (IASs). We then outline our approach and the underlying design principles aimed at the automatic generation of a theory of coordination. Such theory would assist in designing new IASs and provide trouble-shooting tools for suboptimally functioning IASs. We also describe in this paper the decisions that have been made in this endeavor. We have been able to show via a simplified model that the approach is feasible and can produce results. The project is one of the few examples of work in Experimental AI.
